Daily I'm a jewelry designer - this is my passion, my raison d'etre. The expression of that passion is through silver and gold and bronze and copper and steel metal clay formed and pinched and wrapped around gemstones and steel then strung and laced and sewn and soldered into objects and trinkets and ornamental treasures to wear and hold and empower the creative spirit.
I am primarily self-taught. My medium is a relatively new material called Precious Metal Clay (PMC). I began working with fine silver PMC in 1998; it was love at first touch. In the last few months I've added base metal clays to my repertoire - steel, bronze and some copper. Metal Clay consists of extremely fine metal powders in a clay-like base. Each metal clay component is formed by hand and is unique. My fingerprints are visible in each piece, quite literally, the hand of the maker. After forming, the metal clay elements are fired in a kiln; the clay burns out leaving the now-fused metal. After more than 13 years, Metal Clay continues to inspire both me and my work - work that is driven and defined by my love of texture, composition and balance - in nature and in life.
I always create my jewelry from a heart-centered place. An essential component of my work is the practice of working good intentions and blessings into each piece. My hope is the person that wears my jewelry will sense the joy that has gone into each piece and feel empowered.
In each of piece of my jewelry, you'll find my signature blend of rustic elements in classically inspired silhouettes . . . jewelry designs that, while being firmly rooted in my own urban sensibility, have a primal and somewhat ancient quality.
Styles will vary, but the work will always be beautifully crafted, spirited . . . jewelry for your soul.
